In Nieu-Bethesda, behind the world famous Owl House, lies a trading store dating back to 1893. This old store has since been renovated to become the popular Inclusive Books & Nieu Art Gallery.
Nieu-Bethesda, a small Karoo village, has become a worldwide tourist attraction because of the life and works of the outsider artist, Helen Martins, creator of the Owl House.

Behind the Owl House was an old trading store that was opened in 1893. In 2006 Michael & Wilna Meiring bought the premises and renovated the inside into a bookshop and art gallery. We also sell crafts, antique jewellery, children’s toys, and CDs.

Inclusive Books offers a wide range of books on all major subjects (novels, biographies, family & health, philosophy & religion, children’s books, etc.). We specialize in ordering any books, out of print or rare.

Nieu Art Gallery exhibits a variety of South African art (Johannes Meintjies, Phillip Terblanche, Lucy Wiles, Coral Spencer Domijan), including some of the local artists of Nieu-Bethesda (Joanne Reen, David Langmead, Wilna Meiring and others).

Michael & Wilna also run a guesthouse on the side of the village with beautiful views of Compassberg and the surrounding hills.
